Details:

Price: 2500 INR

Finish: Shine

Claims:

. super creamy finish lipstick that glides on effortlessly

.covers evenly.

.Requires one swipe only

.Sensually soft and smooth

.6-hour wear.

Description:

This is one of the best selling Luxe Lipsticks winning a lot of Beauty Awards. But is it really worth it?

I would categorise this as more of a winter shade/ finish , considering the shine and brightness it gives to your lips, which makes it great for winters! But, on a hot summer afternoon , this lipstick is a complete No No, as it might look too liquidy and over bright. As it claims, it glides easily, is super creamy, soft and luxurious enough to attract eye-balls! The colour is very near to that of cotton-candy! It can be the pink, you have always been craving for your lips! The lipstick bullet is shaped to sculpt the curves of your lips which makes the application easy leaving a heavenly smell on your lips.

However, about the number of swipe it requires, I would not totally agree on one! I generally settle for two, as one swipe leaves certain portion of my lips uncovered i.e coming to the next claim it does not cover evenly in one swipe.. Also, yes, it is transferable, but surprisingly the colour left behind saturates lips with the same colour and shine. But, if your skin is wheatish, you would definitely like to give this lipstick a try before buying. The shade is actually a bit tricky , depending on your skin tone and what you pair it with. When paired right, this lipstick would surely win you a lot of compliments.

My Experience:

The verdict:

Pros:

. super creamy and shiny

. Beautiful candy pink

.Sensually soft and smooth

. luxurious packaging

. Magnetic lipstick lid, making it less prone to breakage.

. Heavenly smell

.Moisturises and hydrates without accentuating fine lines

Cons:

.Pricey

.Transfarable

. Looks too bright on a hot summer afternoon, so probably not a summer shade.

.Requires touch ups.

. Does not suit all skin tones

Kama Ayurveda : Nimrah Anti Acne Face Pack

Details:

Price : 1095 INR for 40g

Available on : https://www.nykaa.com/kama-ayurveda-nimrah-anti-acne-face-pack/p/31822?ptype=product&productId=31822&skuId=31822

Claims:

  • Treatment for acne and pimples.
  • Brightens skin complexion.
  • Reduces scars.
  • Reduces dark circles.
  • Prevents ageing.
  • Prevents hyperpigmentation and treats blackheads

Description:

Treatment of acne with a herbal product! But, is it as exciting as it sounds? So, Kama Ayurveda Nimrah is actually quite a popular product bagging various awards including Elle Beauty awards. But a face pack at this price definitely raises eye brows ! So let’s see whether this product is worth the hype or not .

Now, coming to the packaging, it couldn’t be more perfect. Items segregated neatly! The product comes in a cardboard box, which contains, a wooden spatula which was a great first impression, a cylindrical tin with a tight cap : inside which was the product in a packet to maintain hygiene. So, a total thumps up here.

Now the box comes with a clear warning stating a tingling sensation might occur due to rich herbal concentration ( well this wasn’t true in my case). Also, the directions to use is quite simple and easy: Mix 1-2 tsp of the product with water/buttermilk and apply it on the effected area or your entire face and leave it on for 10-15 mins, post which wash the face with lukewarm water and pat dry.

My Experience:

As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, I have an acne prone skin. Lately I could witness few pimples popping up on my face( I would like to blame the monsoon weather for this ), which is why I decided to invest in the face pack as we all know that prevention is better than cure and “HOLLA! THIS PRODUCT ACTUALLY WORKS!”

The colour of the product is like red soil and when mixed with water it has a typical “wet soil” smell which stays as long as the product is on my face. Well, I find the smell somewhat irritating so people sensitive to smell might have some troubles here. I always mix this product with water mainly because it’s safe, considering I haven’t tried buttermilk on my face ever. The best part about the application is that it’s super easy and fuss free. My routine includes, washing the face with a mild face wash, mixing the product with water and applying it on a wet face, leaving it for 15 mins and washing it off. No scrubbing , no hard work.

I have very stubborn acne marks , and this product did minimise the effect. Coming to the tingling sensation, I had this slight sensation only on my first usage (don’t worry, it only means that the product is working on your face), after the first use I never got that sensation. But yes, you might notice that your face has turned a little pink which is the residue of the product on your face and you would definitely not like to step out with that colour, so try using the product as your night skin care regimen.

It totally passes the acne and pigmentation reduction test, but somehow I could not notice any difference on my blackheads yet. Yes, my skin felt supple and soft, in short, dead cells free post application so yes it made my skin happily glowing one. I don’t really have dark circles , so won’t judge the product on that. The box says that the product can be used daily, but I limit the usage 2-3 times a week , the rest of the days I go for my DIY masks.

So overall, I would have been more happy with the product if the price was a little less. The face pack definitely makes my skin clean, bright and radiant reducing the acne pigmentation and acne itself but I can achieve all of this by a simple DIY mask! However, the effect is not very evident and in my case it wasn’t instant either.

The Verdict:

Pros:

  • Reduces acne
  • Reduces acne scars
  • Makes the skin dead cells free
  • Brightens the skin giving it a supple effect
  • Great packaging
  • Super easy application

Cons:

  • Expensive.
  • Does not evidently reduce blackheads.
  • Might not be useful when your skin is affected by too much acne.

Rating:

Packaging : 5/5

Acne reduction: 3.5/5

Scars: 3/5

Blackheads: 2/5

I don’t think I would go for a second purchase, because I get better results with my home made mask of milk, turmeric powder and gram flour(besan) without any investment.

Lakme Absolute : Matte Melt Liquid Lip Color : Vintage Pink & Crazy Tangerine

Details:

Price : 750 INR

Available at : https://www.nykaa.com/lakme-absolute-matte-melt-liquid-lip-color/p/328497?pps=1&productId=328497&ptype=product&skuId=328489

Claims:

  • Velvet matte lip cream with an intense, rich colour pay off.
  • Longwear and lightweight formula.
  • Ultimate silky comfort

Description:

The lipstick comes in a typical liquid lipstick glass barrel , with a wand applicator. For usage, remove the wand from the barrel. Using the tip of the wand, start application on your upper lip from your cupid’s bow.  Similarly highlight the lower lip starting from the corner and swiping it for a complete look.

The results of the application are even better than “WOW”. What a matte! This lipstick has all the qualities you look for in a matte lip colour. Both the colours have got just the right amount of brightness for any time comfortable wear. It has indeed rich colour pay off, but yet again, considering it’s a liquid lipstick you might need several swipes for an opaque look. The lipstick dries out within seconds and turns into knock dead gorgeous lip colour.

The formula is totally lightweight, (unlike Maybelline liquids), creamy and sits perfectly on your lips. Vintage pink is a subtle, calm dusty rose shade, whereas Crazy tangerine is a must have orange shade which is exceptionally wearable compared to other orange shades in the market.

My Experience:

Crazy Tangerine

Vintage Pink

I always eyed on orange lipsticks, but never had the guts to carry such a bold lip colour. Then I laid my eyes on crazy tangerine, which promised to be subtle and it couldn’t be more correct. If you are one of those, who fear popping colours , this is your shade. An orange lippie, that can be worn to office: yes, they do exist.

Vintage pink, is a natural looking shade more on a dull side but extremely wearable and pleasing to look at. Not a unique shade , yet pretty eye-catching.

However, both of these might suit best on light to medium skin tone, you might wanna give a try before purchase if your skin is wheatish or similar.

Now coming to the application, I noticed that the wand does not pick up sufficient amount of colour, one swipe will completely make the wand colour free and if you keep swiping with the wand it will start to remove the colour from our lips. So after every swipe basically, you have to dip the wand again, pick the pigment and go for another swipe. This formula works, because the lipstick takes few seconds to dry out post application, so several coats does not cause lumps or unevenness on the lips giving us more time for correcting any unwanted mistakes.

The texture, is superbly light and creamy making it very comfortable to wear. Also, the lipstick is absolutely non-transferable , you can witness no marks on your coffee mug. However, after meals it might fade a little but not completely . Durability is extremely good, like it stayed on my lips for good 6 hours without touch ups, post which you might need a little dabbing. Works well even on chapped lips, hiding any unnecessary fine lines and flakes.

The Verdict:

Pros:

  • Extremely wearable colours
  • Silky comfort
  • Great durability
  • Transfer proof
  • Covers fine lines and flakes
  • Hydrating
  • No stickiness

Cons:

  • Small wand
  • Might need multiple coats for a good colour pay off
  • Fades a little after heavy meals
  • Might not suit wheatish skin tones.

Pros being stronger than cons, I would definitely recommend this lipstick owing to my great experience.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color : Shade: Babe

Details:

Price: 1800 INR

Available at: https://www.nykaa.com/bobbi-brown-crushed-lip-color/p/222549?productId=222549&ptype=product&skuId=222529

Claims:

  • The look of a lipstick meets the feel of a balm for the most wearable lip yet.
  • Loaded with crushed pigments and lip-loving ingredients
  • Ultimate swipe and go formula
  • It won’t feather or fade for crush-worthy colour that lasts all day.
  • Glides on comfortably with a satin matte finish that leaves lips hydrated and kissably soft

Description:

Bobbi Brown is one of my favourite brands when it comes to any makeup products, and this product , is no different. Initially I did give a second thought considering the cost for a “lip balm” finish lipstick, but soon I understood that this shade is practically impossible for any lip balm to give. The shade can be categorised as a subtle balmy pink with a natural sheen. This shade can be worn during any type of weather and any skin tone , because the effect is so natural and subtle. This is definitely a go- to- shade for my no-makeup makeup look.

My Experience:

Am almost about to get over with the entire stick and planning to re-purchase it again, so I hope you can clearly guess how much I liked this product. It is a total stunner. The best part is , this lipstick is not confined to any zone, you can wear it at night , in the morning or to office, to parties , everywhere. Though, I would say that this is my go-to office lipstick.

This is a tremendously light lipstick with no oily, wet, emollient or heavy feeling. It glides on your lips perfectly , giving it a pleasing shine like a balm. My lips feel super hydrated and moisturised for good 2-3 hours, making it indeed the most wearable lipstick ever.

But yes I could notice flakes on my lips post 2-3 hours which was dissapointing. It has a waxy smell which is not so amiable , but too light to notice. Also, it does not go well with chapped lips.

Coming , to the coverage, it claims to be opaque at one swipe only, where I would like to differ. I need two to three swipes for a complete opaque finish. Yes, the lipstick is transferable, you can see the marks on your coffee mug clearly , you might need touch ups 3 times a day.

Tip: Prep your lips with some foundation and get a neutral lip before applying the product to get the best shade.

The verdict:

Pros:

  • Vibrant shade
  • Impressive packaging
  • Suits all skin tones
  • Not confined to any zones i.e. can be worn anytime.
  • Glides effortlessly
  • Satin finish

Cons:

  • Flaky when left unattended for more than 3 hours
  • Needs multiple swipes for an opaque finish
  • Transferrable
  • Does not go well on chapped lips.

Lakme Absolute Blur Perfect Primer

Details:

Price: 675 for 30 g

Available at : https://www.nykaa.com/lakme-absolute-blur-perfect-makeup-primer/p/44942?ptype=product&productId=44942&skuId=44942&pps=2

Claims:

  • Flawless, professional makeup finish
  • Silky blur formula instantly brightens, primes, softens blemishes and pores giving matte finish.
  • Creates a smooth skin surface to prep for makeup application.
  • Makeup glides effortlessly and blends seamlessly for a more vibrant, colour true finish.
  • Wear alone with moisturiser for instant smoothness and radiance.
  • Waterproof formula

Description:

A primer is a preparatory coat for absorption of subsequent layers of makeup evenly. Not many people understand the significance of a primer unless they use it. It can also help smooth any fine lines, wrinkles or large pores and makes the makeup last longer.

As for this one, starting with the packaging, the product comes in a black tube with a silver cap and a pin sized dispenser to control the ooze of the primer. The primer is light pink (mostly blush pink) in colour and has a silky texture. You just have to apply the primer in dots on your face before applying the foundation and blend it. You will notice that perfect blur effect on your face instantly, hence proving that the product servers true to its name.

My Experience:

I must admit, this was my first ever primer and am “Oh! So Head over Heals” in love with this product! It not just softens my pores and blemishes it does a wonderful brightening job too. A pea sized amount is enough to cover my entire face. Blending this product is super easy as the formula is creamy and soft. It claims to be waterproof and so it is.

The product feels immensely light on my face considering I have an oily face. But for ladies with a dry skin, this product may not be hydrating enough. Applying foundation has never been easier , as most of the coverage job is done by the primer itself thus I give a skip to my concealer most of the times(being not a huge concealer fan). The primer brightens and lightens your skin instantly after application covering the fine lines on your face.

The shade is universal , hence works on all skin tones, making the tone one shade lighter post application. Staying power is great, it makes my make up last for good 6 hours, might lose its effect slightly post that, but manageable for 8 hrs preventing breakouts.

As, this is a blur effect primer, I would suggest usage of right highlighter(reccomended: MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter) with this primer to have a glossy effect. When coming to the hydration part, it is definitely not this product’s strong area, but you can’t ask for more at this price range, right? 😉

The verdict:

Pros:

  • Silky smooth finish
  • Brightens and lightens
  • Waterproof
  • Long lasting
  • Travel friendly packaging
  • Value for money
  • Provides great coverage for pores, fine lines and blemishes
  • Excellent base for makeup application
  • Prevents breakouts
  • Boon for oily skin
  • Suits all skin tone

Cons:

  • Less Hydrated
  • Can feel stretchy and uncomfortable on dry skin

Well, I would definitely re-purchase this product as it is perfect for my skin giving it the finish I want.

Biotique Bio Papaya Revitalizing Tan-Removal Scrub :

Details:

Price : ₹199 for 75 g

Available on :  https://www.nykaa.com/biotique-bio-papaya-smoothing-revitalizing-scrub/p/13369?ptype=product&productId=13369&skuId=13369&pps=1

Claims:

  • Exfoliates dead skin
  • Unclogs open pores
  • Keeps the skin feeling smooth and refreshed
  • Lightens and brightens skin tone

Description:

Anti-Tan Scrub gently exfoliates your skin, unclog pores and removes tanning. The scrub gently eliminates dead skin cells and refines the texture of the skin. If you are a beach baby , anti tan is a must buy product.

So I came across this scrub on Nykaa, and it’s review were acutely positive. Biotique is well known for 100% natural botanicals, no chemicals, no preservatives. This exfoliating scrub is blended with pure papaya fruit to dissolve dead surface cells, unclogs pores and smooth the way to clear skin for surface. Gentle refining action uncovers skin’s natural brightness, for a younger looking complexion.

My Experience :

So I had been to Gokarna during the weekend for a holiday (which explains my inactiveness during the same :p). While the trip was a total hit, we all know that tanning comes as a part and parcel of beach fun ,which is why I ended up buying this product on Nykaa, considering it’s high popularity.

The packaging is Biotique’s traditional one, a round white tub with a green cap. There is another layer of white cover below the cap, to ensure essential moisture retention, so that the scrub does not dry out.

Coming to the contents, the scrub has got tiny exfoliating particles that is just the right size to do the job without hurting your skin. It has a typical scrub smell, which is sweet. I used this product on my face initially, and the results were great! The scrub is gentle enough for your skin and at the same time exfoliated enough to clean your face. Considering papaya is well known for it’s healing skills, turmeric for acne or any resulting scars, neem for it’s moisturising, soft and supple skills, this product appears to be a gem! I used this product on a clean wet face, and a little amount is enough to cover the entire area. The main idea is to scrub lightly in circular motion, let dry for some time , scrub again while washing it off.

I have an oily skin, specially the T-zone , with a few acne scars and lots of blackheads, this product showed great results in the very first use. It reduced my super-stubborn blackheads by 20% , trust me this a great percentage compared to the results given by other scrubs. No peel off masks or scrubs worked this good on my skin. Hence, I loved the product in and out for this part.

However, the fact remains fact with this product too, Tanning can be next to impossible to be reduced completely, in a day or two. It is there to stay. This product does not give an immediate result for tanning. In my case, it cleared the skin, yes, but it showed no improvement on my tanning. Home remedies are still my only hope for it.

Also, differing from other review, I could notice one or two pimples popping up on my face after the usage of this product, so this might not be the right scrub for sensitive skin, therefore, using it daily on my face was definitely out of question. I restricted it’s usage on my hands, legs and neck area only. Exfoliation is definitely this product’s forte , after applying this product you can feel your skin completely dead cell’s free.

The Verdict:

 Pros:

  • Best exfoliator
  • Unclogs pores
  • Refreshes the skin
  • Exfoliating particles don’t hurt your skin
  • Removes blackheads visibly
  • Pocket friendly

Cons:

  • Might cause pimples on sensitive skin
  • Not very tan effective

Overall, I did not find this product to be the “Perfect Scrub” but yes, definitely better than the ones present in the market at this range. I might re-purchase it for my body tanning but definitely not for my face!

L’oreal Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation 24 H

Details:

Price: 1200 INR

Available at : https://www.nykaa.com/l-oreal-paris-infallible-24h-foundation/p/21795?pps=2&productId=21795&ptype=product&skuId=21782

Type: Liquid Foundation

Claims:

  • It is totally touch proof, resists extreme humidity and erases imperfections without drying out skin.
  • This foundation’s texture is perfect for brush application.
  • It glides over the skin, sets effortlessly and delivers ultimate coverage without a layered effect.
  • 24H stay
  • 10 H Hydration

Description:

Loreal’s Infallible range is among it’s best selling ones and rightfully so. Starting with the packaging, the product is sealed in a pump glass bottle ensuring fuss free usage. Also, the product comes in seven different shades, so always try out the shades before purchasing it, do not depend on swatches.

My Experience:

Am in the shade Natural rose 125 which is the lightest shade available in the range. This is my first bottle of the foundation, and the results are pretty good but not great. For my acne prone skin it gives great coverage. I love this product because of its staying capacity on an oily skin like mine. It is totally sweat proof so breakouts are not a concern with this product.

However, the results of the application is not instant, it takes 25-30 mins to settle down in your skin. I would not recommend applying the product directly to your skin, because it might clinge. Rather, apply a primer followed by the foundation with a good moisturiser.

Applying the product without a moisturiser and a primer might give a cakey look. Apart from taking 30 mins to settle this product also oxidises making your skin look darker , so selecting the right shade might be tricky owing to the fact that the shades are very limited. But once the product settles down , there is no looking back for good 10 hours at least , which is probably the product’s best feature. Not to forget, a small amount of the foundation will do the work, a little extra might look overboard. One thing that I noticed about the product is that it leaves one or two acne on my skin which is why I try avoiding the usage too often.

Applying concealer over this foundation can be a task, because it takes a lot of time and effort to blend in. Setting powder will be your best friend to go great with the product. Be very cautious with the photographs with this product on, as this is not photogenic.

Swatch : Natural Rose :125

The way it has hidden the nerve lines of my hand shows it’s great coverage capacity.

The Verdict:

Pros:

  • Stays for good 10 Hours
  • Gives great coverage
  • Works good on oily and dry skin
  • Fuss free usage
  • Travel friendly packing
  • Causes no breakouts
  • SPF 20
  • Transfer free
  • Gives a fresh look for a long time

Cons:

  • Takes 30 mins to blend
  • Needs moisturiser to settle in
  • Leaves one or two acne
  • Might look cakey
  • Oxidises
  • Not photo friendly

This is not a “wow Product”, I found MAC Studio finish lot more better and worth comparatively , so I would not re-buy this foundation.

MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast

Details:

Price : 2150 INR for 3.6 ml

Available at : https://www.nykaa.com/m-a-c-prep-prime-highlighter/p/90013?pps=20&productId=90013&ptype=product&skuId=90010

Type : Liquid

Claims:

  •  Brings a soft, sheer wash of colour to the skin
  • Adds radiance just where you want it
  • Goes on smoothly for cushion-soft wear
  • Can be used to brighten and prime

Description:

Basically, highlighter is a face makeup that attracts light, creating the illusion of brightness and height, hence that lit-from-within look. It perhaps plays a key role in any makeup. It’s a go-to product for a flawless look!

Well, MAC prep+prime is a liquid base highlighter pen that claims to work as a smooth , radiant highlighter. The first highlight of the product is the packaging (like a pen), which is travel friendly ; has a brush which makes application easy. You just need to twist the tail of the product to ooze the highlighter out. It comes in six different shades, as such I would suggest you to try out the shade in a store before purchasing the product.

My Experience:

I have used the highlighter primarily on my nose here !

Am in the shade Bright Forecast which is more towards a peachy shade, and like most of the MAC products , this product is also a hit for me. It did give me the desired highlight. The simmer particles are tiny yet visible. I am not a huge powder highlighter fan, as they appear too bright and cakey on my face, whereas this one does the job perfectly ; though a wrong choice of the shade can land you in trouble.

However, when it comes to coverage , the highlighter is not sufficient, i.e it does not give satisfactory coverage , but that is not a highlighter’s job, right? 😉

I use the product on my foundation, as without a foundation this product might clinge to dry patches ! So I opt for a foundation, fix it with a fixing powder and finish with a highlighter. Also, the brush won’t blend the highlighter in your skin, you will have to use your finger tips to dab.

I must admit, this highlighter eliminates the need of contouring further. I even apply this product under my eyes as I do not have dark circles; for people with dark circles this highlighter will not help in concealing.

The best thing about the product is that, there is very little chance of going overboard with this product as the effect is very subtle .

Tip: Apply the highlighter on the lips, before applying lipstick to get the natural shine (this tip will work even for Matte shades)

The Verdict:

Pros:

  • Gives a subtle radiance
  • Smooth finish
  • Works wonders on oily skin as well
  • Eliminates the need to contour
  • Fuss free usage
  • Blends well with a few fingertips’ dab
  • Travel friendly packing
  • Causes no breakouts

Cons:

  • Less coverage
  • Less quantity
  • Might not be suitable for women over 35+ age
  • Bristle : not good for application
  • Blends well only on a foundation

Rating:

Packaging: 5/5

This product is beyond doubt impressive. Just a few strokes and you are ready to shine without being too glittery . I would definitely recommend the product . Thump’s up!
